About Me | Cynthia J. Terry is the President and CEO of SHABACH! Ministries Inc. (SMI). SMI, located in Landover, Maryland, was established in 1996 as the non-profit organization of the First Baptist Church of Glenarden (FBCG). Cynthia ensures that the goals and objectives of SHABACH!’s community, career and educational components are met daily. SHABACH! delivers inspiring programs that are models for building great character, ensures academic achievement and excellence, and promotes community involvement that impacts the lives of the youth and adults in Prince George’s County, Maryland and the surrounding communities.
As a certified facilitator and trainer for over 20 years, CJ has facilitated leadership, diversity, harassment, and Mental Health First Aid training for major corporations, nonprofits, and small businesses. CJ honors and values her commitment to professional leadership and outstanding service by her active participation in the community. CJ is a graduate of Old Dominion University with a Bachelor’s in Speech Communications. She has also earned certificates from Harvard University in Nonprofit Advancement and Cornell University in EEO Studies. She holds certifications for Mental Health First Aid, Gallup CliftonStrengths, Dale Carnegie, and the Society for Human Resources Management in cooperation with Catholic University of America. CJ is also a John Maxwell Team Member. Most recently, CJ received a certificate for Preaching from Baylor University’s George W. Truett Seminary. Cynthia serves on numerous boards, including the Prince George’s County Board of Social Services. In addition to her multiple roles, Cynthia diligently and faithfully serves at FBCG under the leadership of Pastor, John K. Jenkins Sr. Cynthia also hosts a radio show entitled “Destiny” which airs weekly. She also recently authored a book entitled, “Lie Down In Peace and Sleep: First Responders Edition, soon to be followed by the Women’s Edition, coming in Fall, 2024. |
